“I have lived with and loved a first responder for over 30 years and am very familiar with the culture and stressors of first responders. ”
First responders experience repeated exposure to adverse details of traumatic events. This may lead to vicarious traumatization and/or secondary trauma. Overwork often leads to burn out or compassion fatigue resulting in absenteeism, increased carelessness or mistakes leading to substance abuse or other risky behaviors to manage overwhelming feelings.
It’s often easier to take on an extra shift or multiple shifts to avoid what is happening in the present. In a culture that rewards being strong, tough, and keeping your emotions to yourself, I’m here to listen and assist you in finding a healthy work-life balance.
For doctors, nurses, fire fighters, law enforcement, emergency medical technicians, and all first responders, I offer trauma-focused private yoga, yoga therapy and talk therapy. If you’re in need of support, drop me and line and let’s chat about how I can help.
“Everyone has the ability to master their mind, to increase their stress response capacity, and to improve their wellbeing. Commit to long-term health and optimal performance. The true benefits of yoga come with consistent practice.”
“Yoga is more than a four-letter word. The purpose of yoga, like policing, is often misunderstood. They are both rooted in fundamental principles to serve and protect.”
