Who & What Inspires Me Most

The works of Bessel van der Kolk, MD (The Body Keeps Score), Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D (Full Catastrophe Living), Richard Miller, Ph.D. (iRest Yoga Nidra), and John Briere, Ph.D. (Treating Complex Trauma) have influenced my perspective and lens as a psychologist. Most of all YOU inspire me! You know yourself and what you need better than anyone. Always know that you have everything you need already inside of you. Allow me to be your guide.

My Training & Experience

I am a Maryland licensed Psychologist. I am also PSYPACT approved which allows me to meet virtually with clients who reside in other PSYPACT approved States. I graduated from Argosy University in Washington D.C. (2001), with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Spanning over twenty years, my clinical experience is through a trauma-focused lens, working with teens, adults, and families. I specialize in depression and anxiety disorders, as well as PTSD and complex trauma. I am experienced in using cognitive behavioral interventions such as Exposure and Cognitive Processing therapies as well as incorporating dialectical behavioral principals and philosophies and mindfulness practices with my clients.

I enjoy teaching and learning and am an Adjunct Faculty at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (Washington, D.C. Campus) where I teach trauma electives and facilitate Advanced Practicum Seminar.

What is Psychotherapy?

If you are reading this description, Congratulations! You have already taken the first and most difficult step in the therapy process. Awareness is the first step in the process of healing and transformation.

Finding the right therapist is the second and equally important step. Your therapist and your relationship to your therapist is your greatest tool. Your therapist can be used as a sounding board to challenge stuck or outdated beliefs, bring awareness to common thinking errors, assist in problem solving, learn and practice new coping strategies, and increase or decrease specific behaviors. Most of all your therapist is there to support you.

Sessions with me are client-centered, infused with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) interventions, and principles from DBT and mindfulness practice. Whether alone or combined with mind/body interventions, psychotherapy sessions facilitate growth and healing toward your best self.

Psychotherapy can assist you in accessing the tools you already have inside of you. Psychotherapy can bring deeper insight and clarity to the answers you’re looking for. I’ll assist you in listening to your intuition and connecting to your inner wisdom; helping you to create a practical, action-based approach to life’s problems that will support lasting life change.
